"Visitors"

Well the topic over at Illustration Friday for this week was "visitors." It just so happens that my wife and I took our kids to Lagoon this week for their first "visit." I wasn't really sure what to expect since both our kids are under 50 inches and most of the "good" rides insist you are over the 50 inch benchmark.

Turns out... it wasn't an issue. Not for my boy anyway.

Once the Terror-Ride was discovered it was all over. My 3 year-old boy wanted to ride nothing else. He rode it a total of 3 times and Dracula's castle once. A 3 year-old. Yeah... I remember being like 8 and convincing myself that it wasn't scary. Not only was he NOT scared, but he genuinely seemed entertained... almost excited. I guess most parents would be a tad concerned that their 3 year-old son got his kicks in a spook house ride where mannequins are being tortured and diced up... but I'm not most parents. I was down right proud of the kid! Me being the Halloween-Lover that I am and all, it nearly brought a tear to my eye to witness the little man following in his old man's footsteps.

Ah... the joys of parenthood.

5 Minute sketch

So I haven't posted anything in a while and I was "supposed" to post something at least every week. (Ahem) Well I took five minutes today and drew my little girl. I'm tinkering around with some ideas for a comic strip I want to do so I've been doing really quick, rough ideas lately. At least... that's my excuse.

Axe Murderers and Bigfoot and Bears... OH MY!!!

So our family just made the annual trek back from the mountains and my kids had a blast! It got me thinking of all the times I went camping as a kid and how as a child in the mountains lying there in my trap of a sleeping bag, I really only thought about one thing: The axe murderer or Bigfoot or bear that would come slashing through my tent at any moment.

Now granted, my children are most likely too young to be concerned with such thoughts... but still. One has to wonder when they're all alone in the middle of a meadow with an old abandoned summer camp nearbye.

Yo! Duh!

Here's the little green Jedi we all know and love. Just wanted to do something quick and fun and this is what came of it. Yoda's gotta be the cutest little muppet this side of Kalamazoo... but the last thing you want to do is cross him. Tick him off and he'll scowl and start flippin' around like a demon on drugs. Gotta love him.

Blog... OPEN for business

Ahem... Well I decided to start up a blog dedicated solely to art. Real original, eh? Anyhoo... I sketched something that's a little different for me and decided I'd post it tonight. It's a little rough since I didn't have much time to work on it and it's simply titled..."The Boy."
